Arid Lands Development Focus Kenya (ALDEF- K) is a secular, non-profit humanitarian and development organization founded in 1989. The organization is currently working in Northern Kenya with its head office in Wajir Town. ALDEF-K operates not only in Northern Kenya Region but also carries out activities across the border in Somalia where the people face the same struggles of life and where many Northern Kenya pastoralists go during drought to find pasture and water.

Target groups
The focus groups are the most vulnerable within the community, including but not limited to those who suffer social and economic injustice with reference to female headed households, destitute persons, orphans, the aged, Refugees, internally displaced persons and marginalized pastoralists.
Specific Objectives
• To get communities that will have access to sustainable livelihoods where people living with poverty will achieve food and income security.
• That people living in poverty will achieve concrete improvements in their health and social welfare through increased access to basic social services such as health care, quality basic education, clean water, and sanitation.
• Groups oppressed or marginalized by reasons of their ethnicity, cultural and gender will enjoy equivalent rights with others.
• Fewer people will suffer deprivation as a result of man-made and natural disasters
