Action Times Family Care (AT. FAMICA) was founded in 2003 as a Community Based Organization (CBO) and registered as an NGO in 2005. It operates in 14 districts of Nyanza province namely; Kisii central, Kisii south, Gucha, Kuria, Rongo, Masaba, Gucha south, Nyamira, Ekerenyo, Homabay, Bondo, Manga, Rachuonyo and Suba.
The goal of AT.FAMICA is to promote and improve lives by pursuing integrated community based development programs to fight against poverty and social exclusion in the project areas. The organization meets community through integrated projects with cross-cutting issues on health, education, democracy and governance, environment, water and sanitation management. Through our existing networks of 120 community and faith based organisations AT.FAMICA conducts outreach activities.
Partnerships
Currently our partners include Liverpool (VCT), AMREF (HIV/AIDS) and Community Development Trust Fund (Public Awareness and Advocacy for Environmental Conservation within Daraja Mbili River Basin). Our new project in conflict management and peace building in Rongo and Uriri districts is supported by US-G through PACT Kenya (Kenya Civil Society Strengthening Program-KCSSP). Given our experiences and through our community-based networks in the region we have to establish partnership with likeminded organizations and individuals in order to undertake the Uwezo Kenya initiative by the Women Educational Researchers of Kenya (WERK) in Nyanza province.
AT FAMICA enjoys a broad and strong working relationships with the existing partners on the ground. We have cordial relationship with the local authority and the local administration. We are also in harmony with the local communities. We also operate comfortably in Nyanza province. Above all we are comfortable with educational programme to promote learning in our project areas; this is exhibited by the on-going project we are implementing in partnership with the AMREF-Maanisha and CDTF-CEF.
